The experience

“You ever tried one of these before?” our guide grinned as he handed me the helmet. I hadn’t, honestly. I was half-worried I’d tip over in front of everyone. But the first few meters rolling through Granada’s narrow street felt oddly easy, like the city wanted you to move this way. The air smelled faintly of orange blossom and something smoky from a café nearby. We started near Plaza Nueva, dodging a group of kids playing football (one ball nearly clipped my wheel, nobody seemed bothered).

We zipped up toward the Alhambra gardens, which I’d only seen in postcards before.
