From there the route climbs to Sacromonte, the reddish, dry hill across the ravine. This is the traditional gypsy neighborhood of Granada, where cave dwellings cluster around ravines like streets. The caves have housed gypsies, bohemians and flamenco artists for centuries; inside them, kitchens sit near the entrance, with dining rooms and bedrooms carved into the hillside.
