Rappel into an ancient ravine and climb down lava walls that tower over a hundred meters.

Canyoning in Guaria is a guided rappelling activity in a protected natural ravine on Tejina Mountain, where you descend lava walls up to 25 meters using helmet, harness and rope. You start at Siam Mall, ride 10 minutes upslope through arid land into green vegetation, then walk and rappel through the ravine past Guanche caves, natural obstacles and a millenary dragon tree, with a guide and the group's mascot.

The experience

The ravine of Guaria sits in a protected natural area of Guía de Isora, and the day begins at the Siam Mall commercial front. A 4x4 drives you up Tejina Mountain for 10 minutes, climbing from dry scrubland into vegetation as you gain altitude. Once equipped with helmet, harness and rope, you enter the heart of the ravine on foot, moving through the landscape the way an explorer would: descending slopes with the rappel technique, wading through rock debris, and navigating natural obstacles that have shaped the gully for centuries.

The rappel sections take you down walls up to 25 meters, one rope at a time, with your guide and V, the group's mascot, descending alongside you. Along the way you pass caves carved into the slope, remnants of ancient Guanche settlements, and encounter a millenary dragon tree (dracaena draco) that stands as a living monument on the ravine wall. The lava walls themselves, rising more than 100 meters, frame the entire descent. This is a protected space, and the activity is designed for all fitness levels. No prior experience is required.

The whole adventure takes around four hours. Your guide narrates the landscape and the history as you move through it, and the operator provides photos and video of the day. Transport back down the mountain is included in the booking.
