The Experience

Most people come to Tenerife for the beach or the volcano. Forestal Park sits between them — a treetop obstacle course in the protected forest of Las Lagunetas, just outside El Rosario, where you're surrounded by canary pines instead of sand or stone. The park is the largest of its kind in the Canary Islands, and the difference shows the moment you clip into the harness. The day starts with a safety briefing and about half an hour of training on the ground — how to clip, how to move through the obstacles, what the signals mean. The easy and medium courses need a minimum height of 110 centimeters; the harder ones require 1.45 meters. Weight limit across all circuits is 110 kilograms. Most people spend the time doing the same course twice or mixing easier and harder sections, depending on how they feel after the first run.

The Tarzan swings and ziplines are what people remember. You climb a wall, grab a rope, and jump out into open air — the swing arcs you out over the treetops before you swing back. The ziplines are longer, faster, and they drop you into the next section of the course. Between the obstacles, you're walking across rope bridges, balancing on logs, pulling yourself up nets. It's not a race, and there's no time pressure; you move at your own pace, and the harness system means you're always attached to a safety line.
