Callosa de Segura via ferrata: Suspension bridges and cables
Horizontal start, suspension bridges, and a choice to descend or push higher
The Callosa de Segura via ferrata is a climbing route in eastern Spain combining steel-cable obstacles, hanging bridges and a progressive ascent over roughly three and a half hours. The first section starts nearly level before climbing through different obstacles, including a Tibetan plank bridge and two cable bridges. At the stone wall marking the midpoint, you can return to the parking area or continue into the steeper second section. Qualified guides lead groups in English, Spanish or French, and all technical gear, insurance and activity photos are included. Children from age 8 are welcome.

The experience
The via ferrata sits near Callosa de Segura, a town between Alicante, Murcia and Orihuela in the province of Alicante. You start at the base of a steep vertical rock face, but the first section keeps you mostly horizontal as you work through walls of staples and ramps fitted with steel cables. This layout makes it suited both to people trying via ferrata for the first time and to climbers warming up before tackling harder terrain. The real draw, though, is the hanging bridges: a Tibetan plank bridge, a chain bridge, and two more built from cable that demand focus and balance as you cross them.
Your guide manages the technical setup and pacing. The ascent happens gradually through the obstacles themselves rather than as a single steep push, so you're climbing and problem-solving at once. After roughly two hours, you reach a stone wall where the first section ends. From there, you can turn back to the parking area with a complete via ferrata under your belt, or move into the second section, the steeper one, if you want more.
All climbing gear comes with you: helmet, harness, via ferrata dissipator and anything else the route needs. Nominative accident insurance and liability coverage are included, and the operator sends you photos taken during the activity. Public transport options exist nearby if you're not driving.
