The day starts with a drive from Seville to Cadiz, where you walk through El Pópulo, the oldest inhabited quarter in the city. You'll see the Tavira Tower, an 18th-century watchtower that now holds a camera obscura offering a live view of the city from inside a darkened room. The fortress of San Sebastián sits on a promontory with views across the bay.

On the drive toward Jerez, the route passes La Caleta Beach, a stop where the coast opens up between two historic forts. Once in Jerez, the sherry tasting happens at a winery—the exact bodega depends on availability on your date. Before or after the tasting, you'll walk past the Mercado Central de Abastos, the central market where vendors sell produce, meats and local goods, and see the Cathedral of Jerez, a Gothic-Renaissance-Baroque blend in a square near the city center. Other stops include the Alcázar de Jerez, a Moorish fortress with gardens and courtyards; the Palacio del Virrey Laserna, an 18th-century neoclassical mansion; and the Church of Santiago, which mixes Gothic and Mudejar styles. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art may also be visible depending on the day's schedule.

All monuments are viewed from outside, so the day is built around walking and stopping to look rather than entering interiors.
