The Experience

The workshop sits in a licensed fine arts academy in Barcelona, run by an instructor holding an official Artisan Card. You'll work with real clay and ceramic tools in a hands-on environment designed for beginners—no experience needed, and no need to bring anything except yourself. The studio provides aprons, clay, tools and glazing materials, so you arrive and start making.

The three-hour session moves through the ceramics process in stages. First, you learn how clay behaves and what techniques potters use to hand-sculpt forms. Then you choose what to make—a cup, bowl or plate—and shape it with your hands and tools. Once your form is complete, you move into decoration: texturing the surface, adding patterns and learning glazing techniques that give the piece its finished look. The instructor guides each step, and the environment stays open and friendly whether you come alone or bring a friend.

Your finished ceramic piece needs one to two weeks to dry and fire in the kiln. If you're visiting Barcelona and can't wait, you can leave your creation with the studio and take home a handmade finished piece from their collection instead. If you want your own work, it's ready for pickup after a couple of weeks, or the studio ships worldwide via DHL—you arrange and pay for shipping separately if you need it.
