The experience

The Banana Museum opens the morning with a 45-minute walk through the plantation and its history, followed by 25 minutes tasting banana liquors and other products made from the fruit: adults only for the spirits. Then comes the Arehucas Rum Distillery, where a 35-minute tour of the cellars and production runs in English and German, with 25 minutes of rum tasting after. A full hour of free time in Agaete or Arucas lets you find lunch on your own and wander the town.

What comes next depends on which day you book. On Tuesdays, Finca Los Olivos takes the final stop: a guided tour of the olive groves and oil production, a 15-minute wine tasting, and a honey tasting. Thursdays swap the olive finca for a coffee tasting and a 20-minute mojo workshop where you learn to make the red pepper sauce that sits on every Canary Islands table. Mondays and Thursdays both include the wine and coffee tastings. Pickup and drop-off from your hotel or tourist area is built into the price.
