The experience
The base camp at Expediciones is where each day begins. Your guide issues the technical kit (neoprene, helmet, harness, canyoning backpack, hermetic box and ropes), then you move out for a canyon run that typically lasts between 6 and 8 hours depending on which route the guide selects. The itinerary adapts to your level and to the weather and water flow on the day. There is no fixed script. You walk to the canyon entrance, stop for a safety briefing and any training the guide deems necessary, then descend into the canyon itself, tackling its aquatic, land and air challenges: swimming through pools, rappelling down rock faces, scrambling over terrain, moving through gorges with translucent water.
The three days are built around progression. You start with techniques suited to your experience, then the routes and challenges evolve as your confidence and skill grow. A guide who knows the Sierra de Guara's more than 100 canyons can customize the selection based on what you want to work on, what conditions allow, and what you are ready for. The program covers swimming, diving, apnea, rope handling on rappels, self-protection techniques and the footwork that moves you safely through water and over rock. Snack breaks punctuate the day. A picnic stop comes before or within the canyon itself.
You return to base camp each afternoon, then the cycle repeats the next morning. By the third day, the canyons you tackle and the techniques you refine reflect what you have learned and where you want to push. The Sierra de Guara's reputation rests on the sheer number of routes and the quality of the terrain (some canyons rank among the most beautiful in the world), so the three days give you real variety and real depth rather than a rushed sampling.
