itinerary

Step-by-step itinerary

Day 1 — Explore Seoul's history and scenic spots

  • Visit Jongmyo Shrine
  • Learn Joseon Dynasty history
  • Take photos at Jongmyo Shrine
  • Walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream
  • Discover Seun Arcade
  • Golden-hour photoshoot at sunset
  • Explore Ikseon-dong alleys
  • Learn about hanok and café culture
  • Photoshoot in Ikseon-dong

We met outside Jongmyo Shrine just before the light started to shift — you know that soft, late-afternoon glow? Our guide, Minji, waved us over and handed out little slips of paper with our names in Hangul. I still have mine folded in my wallet. She started talking about the Joseon kings and their rituals, but honestly, I kept getting distracted by the smell of incense drifting from somewhere behind the stone walls. The place felt quieter than I expected for central Seoul. Our photographer (Jisoo? Pretty sure that was her name) had us stand under these old pine trees while she adjusted her lens — I’m not usually comfortable posing but she cracked a joke about “K-drama faces” and somehow it worked.

After Jongmyo, we wandered toward Cheonggyecheon Stream. There’s this moment where city noise just drops away and all you hear is water moving over stones. Minji pointed out how the stream used to be covered by a highway — wild to imagine now with all the couples sitting on the edge, feet dangling. We stopped for more photos as the sun dipped behind Seun Arcade; Jisoo caught me mid-laugh trying to pronounce “Cheonggyecheon” properly (I definitely didn’t). The light got really golden then — not exaggerating — and I remember thinking how Seoul can feel both ancient and brand new in one breath.

The tour ended in Ikseon-dong, weaving through narrow alleys lined with hanok houses turned into cafés and tiny shops. The air smelled like coffee and something sweet — maybe hotteok? We took more pictures here, but it felt less posed somehow; people just living their lives around us. Minji recommended a spot for bingsu after (“best in Seoul,” she promised), so a few of us went together even though we’d only just met. My shoes were dusty from the old alley bricks but I didn’t mind at all.
