The experience
The tour runs eight hours and moves through six major stops across Daegu, starting with pickup from your hotel or location. You'll visit Donghwasa Temple, a historic Buddhist site on Palgongsan Mountain known for its peaceful setting and the world's tallest Buddha statue. From there, the Apsan Cable Car takes you to the summit for panoramic views of the city, where a small bunny sculpture sits at the top. Seomun Market, one of Korea's largest, has stood for nearly 500 years and fills with vendors selling everything from textiles to street food. Your guide will walk you through the stalls and explain the market's role during the Joseon dynasty.
The second half of the day covers three more sites. The Nakdong River War Memorial honors soldiers from the Korean War and marks the fierce battles fought along the river. You'll also explore well-preserved 19th and 20th century buildings and restaurants in a historic district where your guide's commentary brings the architecture and era to life. The Yangnyeongsi Herbal Medicine Market, over 350 years old, lets you see and smell traditional Korean medicinal herbs in one of the country's oldest centers for hanbang (traditional Korean medicine). The guide is a licensed driver as well, so the same person handles both commentary and transport throughout the day.
The itinerary can shift based on what interests you most, and pickup and drop-off are included in the price. No shopping stops are forced into the schedule. The guide speaks English, Korean or Chinese depending on your preference.
