The experience
The class starts at 1:50 p.m. with a welcome tea, followed by a short lecture and demonstration of the day's dish. Friday sessions focus on traditional Korean sweets. Saturday brings gimbap. You'll spend roughly 35 minutes making the dish yourself using seasonal ingredients and traditional techniques, either individually or in a small group depending on the menu. The instructor guides you through each step in English.
After hands-on practice, you taste what you've made, though some dishes may be packed to take away instead. The final 15 minutes cover cleanup, and then a tea ceremony experience follows the class, running about 30 minutes from 4 p.m. onward. Arrive at least 10 minutes early at the Korean Traditional Culture Experience Center on the 2nd floor. Take the stairs to the right to reach the cooking venue. This is a shared group activity with other participants, not a private session, and requires a minimum of five people to run. If that threshold is not met, you'll be notified one week before your date.
Vegan programs are available if you have dietary restrictions, and the center asks that you mention any food allergies in advance via Message. Wear comfortable clothes and bring nothing else. The apron and dish towel are provided. Public transportation options serve the location.
