Step-by-step itinerary

Jeffreys Bay and Treetop Canopy Tour

  • Visit Jeffreys Bay beaches and shops
  • Drive through Aston Bay lagoon road
  • Stop for coffee at Storms River Bridge
  • Walk across Storms River Bridge
  • Glide through Tsitsikamma canopy forest

The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup from Port Elizabeth and a 50-minute drive to Jeffreys Bay, a coastal town built on surfing. Your guide walks you through the main strip of surf brand factory shops, the Marina Martinique with its canal-front homes, and the beaches that draw the World Surf League Championship Tour. From there you'll drive through Aston Bay on a road that cuts across a lagoon before heading inland toward Tsitsikamma.

At the Storms River Bridge, also called the Paul Sauer Bridge, you stop for a coffee break and a walk across the viewpoint. Then comes the zipline course: you're harnessed to cables strung between platforms set as high as 30 meters above the forest floor, gliding through the canopy from one platform to the next. A professional guide manages the setup and walks you through each line. The whole experience takes roughly eight to nine hours from pickup to drop-off.

Weight limit is 120 kilograms. Children under five cannot participate, and the activity is not open to pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns. You'll need a moderate level of fitness to move between platforms and manage the harness.
