The Tsitsikamma BIG Tree is over a thousand years old and you ride to it on a Segway.

A 2-hour Segway tour in Stormsriver Village starts with 15–20 minutes of training on a course, then follows forest paths through cool pine and indigenous woodland to the ancient Tsitsikamma BIG Tree before returning to the village. A live English-speaking guide leads the route, and children from age 6 can join. Bottled water and the Segway itself are included.

The experience

The tour opens with a training session on a dedicated course so you learn the Segway's balance and controls before heading into the forest. Once you're steady, the guide leads you through Stormsriver Village and into the cool pine forests that surround it, then deeper into the ancient indigenous Tsitsikamma Forests along established paths. The route is built around reaching the Tsitsikamma BIG Tree: a 1000-year-old landmark that stands as the centerpiece of the ride.

The Segway itself handles the terrain. You're standing upright on the platform, leaning to steer and accelerate, so the experience is about balance and momentum rather than pedaling or pushing. The guide sets the pace and chooses from a selection of routes through the forest, all of which loop back to the village. Bottled water is provided throughout, and the whole outing takes two hours from start to finish.
