Step-by-step itinerary
Safari and Zulu culture tour

- See wildlife at private game reserve
- Tour PheZulu Village with guide

The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your Durban hotel or cruise ship in an air-conditioned vehicle. You'll head to the Tala Collection Game Reserve, a private reserve where you can spot rhinos, giraffes, zebras, hippos, impala, kudu and nyala on the open landscape. The African Raptor Centre sits within the same reserve and houses over 100 non-releasable birds of prey representing more than 35 species—eagles, owls, vultures, falcons and hawks that can no longer survive in the wild live in world-class enclosures.
In the afternoon, a local PheZulu guide takes you through the village's sibaya (traditional Zulu settlement) and explains cultural practices from the 1800s. You'll watch local performers sing traditional Zulu songs and dance energetically, then move to the PheZulu Reptile Park, where crocodiles, alligators, snakes, tortoises, spiders and iguanas are on display. The guide lets you hold or touch some of the animals—small crocodiles and the giant Burmese python—long enough to take a photo. The tour returns to Durban around 16:30.
