The experience

The Farmers Market is where this tasting starts: the place locals go for produce and specialties, and the best way to feel what Slovenian food actually is. Your guide is a certified ASI Sommelier with WSET 3 credentials, born and raised in Ljubljana, and they'll walk you through tastings of cheese, locally produced meat, seafood (Slovenia has 43 kilometres of coast), traditional soup, and sweets. You'll also try a Slovenian pastry with protected geographical status, filled with walnuts, and learn why these dishes matter to the culture.

The pairing is the point: you'll get a short introduction to how wine and food work together, then taste different wines from Slovenia's regions as you move through the market. Each region has its own flavors, landscape and traditions, and the sommelier will explain what makes them different. Whether you know wine or you're completely new to it, the setup is the same. Everyone tastes, everyone learns, and the guide adjusts to where you are.

The whole thing runs about two and a half hours. Lunch and alcoholic beverages are included. Wine tasting is for guests 18 and older. The market is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby if you need them.
