The experience

The tour leaves Ljubljana with hotel pickup and heads into the Alps. Lake Bled arrives first: the glacial water, the island church, and Bled Castle perched on the cliff above it are the landmarks most travelers picture when they think of Slovenia. A traditional Pletna boat to the island is optional, as is a visit to the castle itself. Vintgar Gorge, a limestone canyon carved by the Radovna river, sits nearby and is walkable in the warmer months. In winter, the operator substitutes Savica waterfall instead (3 € per person).

Lake Bohinj, deeper and less crowded than Bled, lies further into Triglav National Park. The guide steers the stops and pacing, so you move through the day without managing logistics yourself. If you choose the optional Sava Dolinka rafting (55 € per person), it replaces the Lake Bohinj visit: the activity runs only when weather permits and the rafting operator has enough participants. Swimming ability and a swimsuit are required. The outfitter provides the rest.

The final stop is Škofja Loka, a medieval town with cobblestoned squares and timber-framed houses, before the drive back to Ljubljana. The whole day runs about 10 and a half hours from pickup to drop-off.
