Whitewater kayaking course on Soča river, Bovec
You steer your own kayak through moving water, learning the line instead of watching it.
A whitewater kayaking course on the Soča river in Bovec teaches beginners safety, equipment use and basic paddling technique on easy rapids over three hours. The course is organized by skill level, so you train with others at your stage. Transfer from Bovec to the start and back, professional instruction, whitewater equipment and free photos are included; a live English-speaking guide leads the session. Children from age 12 are welcome, and a minimum of two people per booking is required.
The Experience
The Soča river's variety—fast sections, slower stretches, rock formations—makes it a natural classroom for kayaking. You spend two hours on the water, starting with whitewater safety lessons and correct equipment use on slowly moving sections, then progressing to easy rapids as your confidence builds. Each person paddles their own kayak, steering and finding the optimal line rather than riding along. The course is organized in separate groups for beginners, intermediates and advanced paddlers, so you're not holding back experienced kayakers or struggling to keep up.
A professional instructor leads the session in English, and the operator provides all whitewater equipment you need. Transfer from Bovec to the launch point and back is included, so you don't arrange your own transport. The operator also captures free photos during the trip, which you receive afterward. The whole experience runs three hours, with two of those on the water itself.
Bring your own bathing suit. The Riverpass Bovec, a regional access fee, costs €6–15 per adult and €3–7.50 per child up to age 15, depending on the season; ask the operator whether this is included in your booking or charged separately at checkout.

Is this one for you?You paddle your own kayak in a shared group course, which means you're learning alongside others at the same level and building the skill yourself rather than watching a guide demonstrate it. This suits anyone who wants hands-on instruction and doesn't mind a small group environment; if you prefer one-on-one coaching or a private session, ask the operator about alternatives.
