The Experience

The day starts with hotel pickup and heads straight into River Safari, where you move through more than eight habitats built around the world's major river systems. The Yangtze section holds the giant pandas—Jia Jia and Kai Kai—and the Amazon Forest section puts you on a boat ride through the flooded habitat itself. You'll see the Congo River's colorful fish and the Nile-inspired River of Life with its ancient-looking creatures. A guided trail walk gives you closer views of the animals, and you have free time to move at your own pace before the evening shift.

Night Safari operates differently: you explore the jungle from an open-air tram under subtle moonlight, watching animals that are active only after dark in their natural habitats. The park stages two nightly shows—Creatures of the Night or Thumbuakar Fire Performance—that you can catch depending on timing. The tram does the heavy lifting; the walking is minimal once you're inside. Bring insect repellent; the tropical jungle setting means mosquitoes are present, especially at dusk.

The boat ride at River Safari doesn't operate in bad weather, so plan accordingly if the forecast looks uncertain. Comfortable walking shoes matter for the daytime portion. Infants can ride in a pram or stroller, and small children sit on an adult's lap during the boat ride. The whole experience runs eight hours from pickup to drop-off.
