Dundee Self-Guided Tour App: Hidden Gems Treasure Hunt

Hunt for hidden gems across Dundee with GPS clues and challenges on your phone.

A self-guided treasure hunt and quiz game in Dundee where you use a smartphone app to navigate to over 100 destinations, solve clues, complete challenges and earn points toward the Travel League. You start anytime, explore at your own pace with GPS guiding you, and one ticket covers your whole group on a single device. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

The experience

The app drops hundreds of map pins across Dundee the moment you log in. Each pin marks a destination or a challenge. Some are well-known spots, others are the kind of places locals know and visitors miss. You navigate to them on foot, by car or however suits the day, and the GPS keeps you on track. At each stop you solve a clue, answer a quiz question or complete a challenge to earn points. The more you visit and the more you solve, the higher you climb in the Travel League, a nationwide leaderboard where you compete against other explorers for seasonal prizes.

One ticket works for your whole group sharing a single device, which cuts the cost if you're traveling as a family or with friends. You set the pace entirely: spend an afternoon hitting a handful of nearby pins, or use the full day to chase destinations across a wider stretch of the city and countryside. There's no fixed route, no guide keeping time, and no pressure to finish anything. The app simply nudges you toward places you might not have found on your own, and you decide which ones to pursue.

The day pass gives you anytime access, so you can start whenever suits your schedule. Cancellation is free if you change your mind up to 24 hours before, and the experience works for all ages and fitness levels. Service animals are welcome, and public transport options run nearby if you'd rather not drive.
