Step-by-step itinerary

- Hike to top of Tuwaiq cliffs
- Enjoy sunset views on the edge
- Relax at campsite with tea and dinner
- Stargaze under desert sky
The experience
The tour starts with a drive outside Riyadh to the Tuwaiq Mountains, where you'll walk an old camel crossing: a historic trade route that once moved goods across the region. Your guide points out the landscape as you go, and the route itself is considered one of the best viewpoints in the area. The cliffs rise sharply above the desert floor, and the scale of them becomes clear only when you're standing at the top.
As the sun sets, you move to the edge for the main moment: sitting on the clifftop while light drains from the desert and the horizon stretches endlessly in front of you. After that, the group heads to a campsite where you'll have tea, coffee, and snacks. If time allows, dinner is served here too. Once darkness settles, the stargazing begins: the desert sky opens up without city light interference, and the guide can point out constellations and answer questions about what you're seeing.
The whole experience runs five hours from start to finish. You'll need to be comfortable walking on uneven terrain to reach the clifftop, and the hike itself is moderate. Bottled water and snacks are provided throughout, and the vehicle is air-conditioned for the drive to and from Riyadh.
