The experience
The ride begins at the Big Square in Sibiu's old town, where the buildings surrounding the market are all historical monuments: each with its own story and specific architecture. From there you pass under the Council Tower into the Small Square, then descend into the lower town and follow a cycling path toward the green spaces. The route crosses Sub Arini Park, one of Romania's oldest urban parks from the 19th century, and passes through Dumbrava forest before reaching the Astra Museum at the edge of the city.
The Astra Ethnographic Open air Museum holds original traditional houses from across Romania, along with old crafts and decorations from Transylvania. Two traditional restaurants operate inside the museum grounds: a chance to stop, rest and talk through what you've seen with your guide. The tour ends back in the old town center near the fountain where it started, so you're not left stranded across the city.
A professional guide leads the entire route and can speak English, French or German. The tour includes the bike and helmet, bottled water to refill along the way, and photos taken during the ride. You can customize the stops based on what interests you most. The Hunting Museum is optional, and lunch at the Astra is your choice. The tour suits all fitness levels and children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

How long is the bike tour and what's the actual riding time?
The tour runs 4 hours total from start to finish in the old town center. That includes time at the squares, the parks, and the Astra Museum, so the actual riding time is less. You'll have stops to look around and catch your breath.
What's included in the bike tour and what do I need to pay extra for?
The tour includes the bike, helmet, bottled water, guide and photos. Lunch at the Astra Museum restaurants is optional and costs extra. So do any drinks you order there. Hotel pickup and transport to the starting point are not included, so you'll need to get to the Big Square on your own.

You can choose at checkout: book the tour alone and bring your own bike, or add bike rental to your booking. Either way, the helmet and guide are included.
What are the Big Square and Small Square actually like?
The Big Square is the heart of the medieval old town, surrounded by historical buildings that each have their own architecture and story: the Catholic Church, Brukenthal Museum and City Hall all face onto it. The Small Square is a smaller meeting place for locals and tourists, connected to the Big Square by a passage under the Council Tower.
What happens if there aren't enough people to run the tour?
A minimum of two people per booking is required. If the tour doesn't meet the minimum after confirmation, the operator will offer you an alternative date or a full refund.
