Step-by-step itinerary
Explore the Wild South of Réunion

- See Langevin Waterfall
- View volcanic coastline panorama
- Stop at natural volcanic arch
- Explore Arabian Well site
- Contemplate Great Burn lava flows
The experience
The tour starts at one of three points (the South, the West, or a cruise ship), and moves through Réunion's volcanic landscape in a quiet, air-conditioned electric vehicle. Your driver handles navigation while you watch the road unfold: vacoas trees and black volcanic rock, the southern swell hammering the coast, and the silence of the car letting you absorb it all without engine noise.
Grande Anse Beach opens the route, a crescent of sand that locals call the most beautiful in the south. From there you follow the Langevin River inland to its waterfall, tucked at the end of a winding road, then return to the coast to move through the Wild South proper: a stretch of shoreline where the landscape feels raw and unsettled. A natural volcanic arch sits just meters from the road. The Arabian Well site shows the endemic plants that survive in this intensity. The Great Burn, the tour's centerpiece, is where the most recent lava flows (from 2026) descend the volcano's slopes and cut across the road on their way to the ocean, creating a landscape that exists nowhere else on the island.
Bottled water and WiFi come with the vehicle. The route takes between four and seven hours depending on how long you spend at each stop and which starting point you pick.
