Step-by-step itinerary
Hike and swim in river caves
- Hike to three natural river caves
- Swim in waterfall and natural pools
- Swim through caves
The experience
The hike itself is short and moderate. The real adventure happens in the water. You'll move through three separate caves, each with its own pool, and swim across the cave interiors where the rock walls rise around you. A waterfall feeds one of the pools, and you can jump from rocks into the water if you want to. Your guide picks the pace and watches the group constantly. They know the caves, the currents and where it's safe to swim or climb.
Life vests come with you, and the guide carries bottled water for the group. The tour operates outside the main tourist zones, so you're not competing for space or waiting in lines at a developed attraction. Your guide speaks English or Spanish and can answer questions about the forest, the geology and the wildlife around the caves as you move through the day. Pickup from your hotel is included, which means no arranging a separate ride to the trailhead.
The minimum group size is two people, and children as young as six can join if they're comfortable in water and can manage a moderate hike. Specialized infant seats are available if you're bringing a younger child. You'll want to bring a change of clothes and a towel. The five to seven hour window gives you time to swim, explore and dry off before heading back.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 17 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What are the three river caves like when you get there?
Each cave holds its own natural pool fed by the river, with rock walls and a waterfall at one of them. You swim across the pools inside the caves themselves, moving through the interior space rather than just swimming in an open area.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to do this tour?
You'll wear a life vest throughout, and your guide stays with the group to manage safety in the water. Moderate physical fitness is what the operator asks for. The hike is short and the swimming is in the pools, not in a current.
What happens if I want to jump off the rocks, or would I rather just swim?
Jumping off rocks into the natural pool is an option, not a requirement. Your guide will show you where it's safe and let you decide whether to do it. Plenty of people stick to swimming instead.
