A 2.5-hour horseback tour departing from Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park takes you across the Mameyes River, through tropical forest, and along Luquillo Beach on the Atlantic coast. All riding levels are welcome; riders must be at least 12 years old and weigh no more than 235 pounds.
Step-by-step itinerary

- Ride alongside Mameyes River
- Swim and refresh at river
- Explore tropical forest on horseback
- Ride along Luquillo Beach shore
The Experience
The day starts at Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park with a safety lesson and horse assignment based on your weight, height and riding experience. The staff matches you to the right horse before you mount, so the ride itself can focus on the trail instead of the setup. From there you head into the foothills of El Yunque National Forest, moving through tropical forest with a local guide who knows the terrain.
The Mameyes River crossing is the centerpiece of the ride. You'll travel alongside the river's clear water, then stop for a half-hour break to swim and cool off before continuing. The trail then opens onto Luquillo Beach, where you ride along the Atlantic shore before heading back to the park. The whole outing runs 2.5 hours, and the guide handles the pace so all riding levels stay comfortable.
Arrive 45 minutes early to check in. Wear long pants and closed shoes—no flip-flops. Free parking is included, and the guide speaks English or Spanish. Helmets are provided. Public transportation options are available nearby if you're not driving.
