Limestone cliffs over the ocean, waves below, your instructor teaching you to climb.

A two-hour rock climbing class on the sea cliffs of Cascais where you learn basic technique and climb limestone routes adapted to your level, with all equipment provided and instruction in English, Spanish or Portuguese. The climbing spot sits protected from wind, overlooking the ocean with views across the water. Bad weather triggers a date change or full refund.

The Experience

Two hours starts at Farol da Guia, where you meet your instructor and walk down together to the crag. The climbing spot is limestone cliffs over the ocean in Cascais. An exposed position that also means protection from wind and a view of the water below. Before you touch the rock, you go through the basics: knots, belaying, how to use the harness and rope, and what safe climbing looks like. Once that's solid, you start climbing. The routes here run the full range, so whether you're a complete beginner or you've climbed before, your instructor scales the day to what you can actually do.

All the gear stays with the operator: helmet, climbing shoes, rope, harness, quickdraws and belay device come with the booking. Bring water, sun protection, comfortable clothes and a hat. The rock has to be dry to climb safely, so if rain moves in, the operator reschedules you to another date or refunds the full cost if the new dates don't work. Your instructor speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese.

The spot sits in Cascais, a town with cobbled streets and beaches nearby, so you can add a walk or a swim to the same day if the timing works.
