The route runs 65% off-road, which means most of the three to four hours happens on terrain that is not asphalt: forest tracks, ridge lines, and the kind of ground that rewards throttle control and attention. A guide leads the group and handles the route. You handle the machine. Gasoline, helmet and personal insurance come with the booking, and a safety deposit of 500 euros per vehicle (held on credit card, released within 72 hours) covers damage liability.

The day starts with a briefing at the ANC office in Valados, where you sign a liability statement before departure. From there the route crosses inland toward Miradouro dos Aflitos, a viewpoint, then passes through Batalha Golf and the quieter terrain beyond it before looping back to the coast side of the island and returning to base. Weather can shift the date at no cost to you. The operator reschedules rather than cancels. You need a valid driving license recognized in Portugal and moderate fitness for the physical demands of piloting a quad over uneven ground for several hours.

A guide speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian throughout the tour, so the briefing and any route calls come in your language.
