The Experience

The first thing I noticed was the yellow umbrellas bobbing above the crowd near Fonte dos Leões — honestly, I almost walked right past them. We moved as a pack through Porto’s narrow streets (I nearly tripped on those slippery cobblestones), following João’s yellow umbrella like some weird parade. The city felt alive, even after midnight — music leaking out from every doorway.

The last stop was this club where we skipped straight past the line outside (felt a little smug about that). Inside: bass thumping so hard you could feel it in your chest, lights flickering everywhere. Some people danced until sunrise; I ended up outside for a bit just watching Porto glow under streetlights with new friends I hadn’t known five hours before. Still think about that view sometimes — how easy it felt to belong here.
