The experience
Loule is the starting point, where you'll see the Municipal Market of Loulé, an ornate revivalist building from 1908 that still sells fresh fish, produce and regional sweets. From there, the tour moves through the town's medieval castle (rebuilt in the 13th century on Arab foundations), and its museum, which traces the territory from prehistory to modern times through objects found across the county. The hermitage holds baroque woodwork and 17th-century tiles from Lisbon depicting the life of the Virgin, while the Islamic Baths museum sits beneath what was once a public hammam built against the city wall during the Islamic period.
Estoi Palace, the final stop, is an 18th-century estate with ocean views, formal gardens, decorative tiles and fountains. The guide provides context at each site, and the route is covered in a climate-controlled vehicle with WiFi on board. Cold water is provided throughout the day, and parking and tolls are included in the price.
