The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your Lisbon hotel and a drive to Fatima, where you spend an hour at the Sanctuary—one of Portugal's most visited holy places—and learn the story of the 1917 apparition of Our Lady. A 30-minute stop at the Sino factory gives you time to browse rosaries and statues if you want souvenirs. From there, Batalha Monastery is a 30-minute visit; it's the last gothic-style monastery built in Portugal and one of the country's seven architectural wonders. The guide walks you through the stonework and the history.

Nazare comes next. You'll see the fishing village and the cliffs where surfers chase 30-meter waves, and you can climb to O Sitio overlook for a view across the ocean and the town below.
