The experience
The morning starts at the local market, where the guide walks you through Portuguese food culture and shows you how to pick the freshest seafood and produce. You'll talk with vendors, handle the ingredients, and choose what goes into the day's dishes. This is not a lecture about markets. You're the one deciding what lands in your basket.
Back in The Kitchen's professional kitchen, you cook every dish yourself. The four recipes: Ameijôas à Bulhão Pato (clams in garlic, olive oil and white wine), Camarão à Alhinho (prawns in garlic sauce), Arroz de Tamboril (monkfish rice) and Passion Fruit Mousse, are chosen for authenticity and for being manageable to execute. You leave with a PDF of the recipes so you can make them at home.
After the cooking, you sit down to the meal you've prepared, with bottled water, traditional Portuguese beer and wine included. The whole experience runs four hours. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them.
