The Experience

The day starts at your hotel with pickup by your personal driver, who stays with the group throughout. You walk through Warsaw Old Town with your coordinator, moving through the Barbican, the narrow streets of the medieval quarter, and the Old Town Square centered on the Warsaw Mermaid fountain—the city's symbol. From there you reach Castle Square and the Royal Castle itself, a baroque-classicist residence that served as the seat of Polish kings and parliament from the 16th century onward. The Castle holds the Throne Room in red velvet and gold, the Knight Room, and the Ballroom with Poland's largest ceiling fresco; multimedia exhibitions also document the Castle's destruction in World War II and its meticulous reconstruction. Audio-guides are available in Polish, English, German, Russian, French, Italian and Spanish.

After the Castle, your driver transports the group to POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, where audio-guides in eleven languages (including English, Hebrew, Yiddish, Hungarian and Italian) lead you through centuries of Jewish life in Poland. The museum's multimedia exhibitions show how Poles and Jews lived together, worked together and shaped each other's cultures—family relations, neighborhood ties, shared economy and faith. A virtual library lets you handle reproductions of 16th-century Hebrew and Yiddish texts and print pages from historic books. The museum documents the contribution of Jews to Polish culture, science and commerce across hundreds of years.
