The experience

The tour starts at the Convent Gate, where your accredited guide meets you and heads straight to the Leaning Tower, one of Toruń's biggest landmarks. From there you move through the medieval streets to the house of the astronomer, its pure gothic facade still standing, and into the cathedral, which has stood for almost 800 years. You'll pass the former granaries now converted into the History Museum and arrive at the Main Square, the central meeting point of the Old Town.

What sets this tour apart is the guide's knowledge of the anecdotes and curiosities behind each stop. You'll learn the surprising story of the infamous donkey in the Old Town Square, see the courtyard of one of Europe's most beautiful medieval townhalls, and discover the tale of Filus, the smallest monument in the city. The route also takes in the Franciscan church, the second oldest in Toruń and burial place of the princess Anna Waza, and a younger church next to a neogothic post office that once hosted Napoleon.

Hotel pickup is included in the booking. Entry to one of the churches (either the Cathedral or Saint Mary's church if the Cathedral is not available) is covered. The guide speaks English, Spanish, German, Russian and one additional language. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller.
