The experience

The tour picks you up from your hotel and moves through Warsaw's Jewish sites by private car, saving the walking for the moments that matter. You start at the Zlota Street Ghetto Wall (the only original, preserved section), then drive to the monument commemorating the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The POLIN Museum of Polish Jewish history stands next to it. The guide will point out its 100-year interactive exhibition, which you can explore on your own afterward if you choose.

From there, a short walk takes you to Zamenhofa Street and the Jewish Martyrdom Route. The car brings you to Mila 18, where the bunker marks the spot where the Jewish Uprising commander took his own life. Then comes the Umschlagplatz: the square where Nazis loaded deportees onto trains bound for Treblinka. A wall there bears typical Jewish names engraved as a memorial. About 2 kilometers away, the Jewish Cemetery holds the graves of spiritual leaders, activists and artists, with old tombstones in the traditional style. You'll see the Old Synagogue, the only pre-war synagogue that survived the war intact, and pass the Jewish Theatre, now the only venue in Warsaw staging performances in Yiddish.

The 3-hour tour ends at either the POLIN museum or your hotel. Polish beer, bottled water, Coca-Cola and Wedel chocolate are included throughout.
