The experience
Your guide and driver pick you up at your accommodation in Wroclaw in a private, air-conditioned car and head south through Lower Silesia's countryside. The route passes Karpniki Castle, a medieval moat-surrounded fortress, and enters the Giant Mountains foothills. At the Place of Gravitational Anomaly, an optical illusion makes a parked car appear to roll uphill. You'll walk from there to the Wild Waterfall in Karpacz, where the mountain air and the sound of water are the point of the stop.
The Vang Stave Church in Karpacz is the tour's architectural centerpiece. Built around 1200 in Norway, it was dismantled and reconstructed here in the 1840s: a feat of 19th-century engineering that the guide explains in detail. Entry is included. Note that admission closes during mass and special events, in which case the stop shifts to the Ski Jump Orlinek viewpoint instead. From there, the tour moves into the Valley of Palaces and Gardens, where you'll see the Upper Palace and the Palace on the Water in Staniszow, the Paulinum Palace in Jelenia Gora, the Wojanow Palace park, and the Widow's House manor in Łomnica, a regional grange where you can buy local products. The day ends with a return drive to your hotel in Wroclaw.
Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and layers matter: mountain weather can turn cool. Lunch can be arranged on request if you want to eat during the day rather than after. The tour suits all fitness levels, and infants can travel in a pram or specialized seat.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian and Polish.
What is the Vang Stave Church and why is it in Karpacz?
The Vang Stave Church was built in Norway around 1200 and was dismantled and moved to Karpacz in the 1840s, making it a rare example of a medieval Norwegian wooden church now standing in Poland. Your guide tells the story of how it was transported and reconstructed.
Do I walk much on this tour?
You'll take a walk to the Wild Waterfall in Karpacz and stroll through the park at Wojanow Palace, but most of the day is spent traveling by car between the Giant Mountains, the church, and the palaces. Comfortable shoes are recommended because of the mountain terrain and the walking sections.
What are the palaces in the Valley of Palaces and Gardens?
The Valley of Palaces includes the Upper Palace and the Palace on the Water in Staniszow, the Paulinum Palace in Jelenia Gora, the Wojanow Palace with its park, and the Widow's House manor in Łomnica, where you can explore the grounds and buy regional products.
Is lunch included in the tour?
Lunch is not included as standard, but you can arrange it when you book if you'd like to eat during the day. Your guide can advise on options in the region.
What happens if the Vang Stave Church is closed when we visit?
If the church is closed due to mass or a special event like a wedding, the tour replaces that stop with the Ski Jump Orlinek viewpoint, which offers views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
How many people can fit in the car?
Private transfers use a standard sedan for one to three people and a larger van for groups of four or more. If you're booking for five people, you can request the van to have more space for luggage and comfort.
