The experience
The tour starts with hands-on Segway training before you leave the meeting point, so you're ready to ride through the shipyard and down Długa Street: the city's main thoroughfare lined with merchant houses. You'll roll past Dlugi Targ Square and the Crane, a 15th-century port structure that still dominates the waterfront, then continue to the Museum of the Second World War, AmberSky Gdansk and Europejskie Centrum Solidarności. The route covers ground a walking tour would stretch across hours.
A live guide in your chosen language (English, German, Russian or Swedish) leads the group and handles the commentary. The Segway itself does the work of getting you from stop to stop, which means you spend less time on your feet and more time taking in each location. The company has run these tours for 8 years and trained every guide on the vehicles themselves.
Children from age 11 can join, and the operator says the Segway is intuitive enough for any fitness level. Public transportation is available nearby if you need an alternative way back to your hotel.
