The experience

Day one starts with pickup at Puerto Maldonado airport or bus station. After registration at the office, you head to the lodge with a welcome drink and lunch. The Canopy Tower stands 35 meters high, built into the base of a massive Lupuna Tree. You walk the platform and then zipline through the forest canopy. Later, a boat ride on the Madre de Dios River puts you on the water at dusk in search of caimans and capybaras along the banks. Dinner and overnight stay are at the jungle lodge.

Day two begins with breakfast before a boat transfer to the Tambopata National Reserve control point. A 90-minute walk through rainforest brings you to Lake Sandoval, one of the region's largest and most remote lakes. You spend several hours paddling by canoe, surrounded by ancient trees, vines, and wildlife: giant otters, macaws, colored butterflies, turtles, and fish. The boat departs the lodge at 10:30am for the return to Puerto Maldonado, followed by transfer to your airport or bus station.

Is this one for you?Book this 2-day version if you have limited time but want to experience both the canopy and the lake: a longer 4-day tour adds more reserve exploration, while a 1-day trip skips the overnight and Lake Sandoval entirely. The moderate fitness requirement means the rainforest walk and canopy height are real, so come ready to move through the jungle and climb.
