Sandboard Huacachina: Learn & Film in the Desert

Your instructor films every run on drone and phone while you learn to sandboard.

Learn sandboarding or skiing on the giant dunes of Huacachina with a certified instructor who teaches throughout the three-hour session. The experience includes professional equipment, a 4x4 buggy ride into the desert, drone and iPhone footage of your runs, sunset viewing, and pisco and wine tasting. A guide speaks English or Spanish. Children are welcome from age 5.

Step-by-step itinerary

Sandboard and ski in Huacachina dunes

The experience

The session starts at 3:05pm and runs three hours. If you've never sandboarded, a certified instructor with 10 years of experience stays with you the whole time, teaching technique on the dunes and filming your slides with a Drone Avata 2 and iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you already ride, the crew can build a ramp so you jump while the filmmaker captures it. Either way, you get professional sandboard or ski gear (board, boots, goggles, helmet), and ride out 15km into the desert in a 4x4 buggy.

The group stays small: two or three instructors work with everyone together. Around the time the sun drops, you head deeper into the desert to watch it set, then gather for a photo session. The day wraps with a tasting of pisco and wine before heading back.

You'll leave with video and photos shot on professional drone and phone, so the runs are yours to keep and share. The whole outing (transport, instruction, equipment, the sunset stop, the tasting) is one booking.
