The Experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel and heads first to Barranco, where you walk through the neighborhood's Central Park, past colonial residences and art galleries, across the Bridge of Sighs, and along the boulevard that draws Lima's nightlife. From there the route follows the South Pacific Coast Highway south to Pachacamac, the ceremonial center that remained a religious hub across centuries of occupation—from the Lima and Wari peoples through the Ichma and finally the Inca Empire.

At Pachacamac you move through temples built across different periods: the Adobitos and Old Temple from the 1st century A.D., the painted Temple from the 8th century, a pyramid with a ramp from the 13th century, and the Temple of the Sun from the 15th century. The on-site museum displays pottery, textiles, shell and stone ornaments, and the wooden Pachacamac idol discovered during excavations in 1938—the artifact that anchors the site's religious significance. The guide walks you through the entire cultural sequence from around 200 A.D. until the Inca establishment in 1470.

The tour runs four hours total.
