The Experience

The drive out of Cusco is always a bit chilly in the mornings—our driver met us right at the hotel lobby, and we set off through winding roads lined with eucalyptus trees and sleepy villages. The air smelled faintly of wood smoke. As we got closer to Cuyo Chico, snowy peaks popped into view, and you could spot the ancient Pisac terraces just beyond the fields.

When we arrived, a couple of locals greeted us with big smiles—one even handed me a cup of warm muña tea.
