The experience

You meet at the harbor in Khasab before boarding a traditional dhow for six hours of cruising through the fjords beneath the Al-Hajar Mountains. The boat carries you to Telegraph Island and Seebi Island, where you enter the water with provided snorkeling gear, towels and life jackets to explore the reefs. Dolphins sometimes appear in the area, though sightings are not guaranteed. Between snorkel stops, the dhow moves through the water at a pace that lets you take in the rock formations and the coastline.

Lunch is a semi-buffet served on board: fresh fruits, local coffee, homemade tea, soft drinks and juices. The guide speaks English and Arabic throughout the day. Hotel pickup and drop-off within Khasab are included. If your hotel is outside Khasab (in the UAE or Muscat, for example), an additional fee applies at checkout. The tour suits all fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible, with specialized infant seats available if you're traveling with small children.

Before you book, note that your original passport must have at least three months of validity remaining. If you're driving a rental car, you'll need an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the rental company to cross the border into Oman, and the car must carry Oman insurance or you can obtain it at the checkpoint.
