The experience
The Daymaniyat Islands sit off Muscat's coast as a protected marine reserve, which means the coral has never been harvested, the water stays exceptionally clear, and the fish populations are dense in a way unprotected snorkeling sites simply cannot match. You meet at a designated point where guides hand out masks, snorkels, fins and flotation devices, then travel to the reserve. Once in the water, you follow the guide to the best reefs and move at your own pace, taking time to watch the life around you instead of racing through a checklist.
The reserve's biodiversity is the draw. Tropical fish school around the coral heads; sea turtles glide past at eye level; and depending on the month, whale sharks move through the Arabian Sea's waters. The guide points out what to look for and stays close enough to answer questions or help if you need it, but the snorkeling itself is yours to control. After the dive, you return to the meeting point, where the guides collect the gear and you have a chance to decompress with other snorkelers who saw the same underwater world.
Lunch and snacks are included, along with bottled water. The whole outing runs about four hours from start to finish. No diving certification or prior experience is required. The guides brief you on how to use the equipment and how to move safely in the water before you enter.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Arabic.
What kind of marine life will I actually see at the Daymaniyat Islands?
The reserve is home to vibrant coral reefs, tropical fish, and sea turtles that drift through the water regularly. Whale sharks pass through the Arabian Sea during certain seasons, and if the timing is right, you may swim near them. The protected status of the reserve means the populations are denser and more active than at unprotected snorkeling sites.
Do I need snorkeling experience or certification to go?
No experience is necessary. All snorkeling equipment is provided, and your guide will brief you on how to use it and move safely in the water before you enter. The activity is suitable for all fitness levels, including first-time snorkelers and families with children.
How long does the whole snorkeling trip take?
The outing runs about four hours from meeting point to return, which includes the orientation, travel to the islands, the snorkeling itself, and time to relax afterward.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
Snorkeling equipment, lunch, snacks, bottled water, and all fees and taxes are included. You don't need to bring your own gear. If you want to rent a GoPro to film underwater, that costs 10 RO and is arranged separately.
How do I get to the meeting point from central Muscat?
Public transportation options are available near the meeting point, so you can reach it without a private car or transfer if you prefer.
