Step-by-step itinerary

Salalah city highlights and shopping

  • Visit Great Mosque and Sultan's palace
  • View Al-Baleed Archaeological Park
  • Cross plantations of coconuts and fruits
  • Shopping at bazaars and traditional souks

The experience

The tour starts early and moves through Salalah's main landmarks in sequence. You enter the Great Mosque to see its minarets, then view the Sultan's palace from outside before heading to the Balid Museum, an archaeological park set beside a lagoon where cranes and herons gather. The museum tells Oman's history through models and photographs, and sits on the site where legend says the Queen of Sheba once stayed. From there the route crosses through plantations of coconuts, bananas, papaya and tamarind: the agricultural heart of the Dhofar Governorate.

The second half of the morning is built around shopping stops: bazaars, gold and silver markets, and small traditional souks where you can browse without pressure to buy. A certified English-speaking guide handles all the navigation and context. Bottled water is provided throughout. The pace is steady but not rushed, and the tour wraps by early afternoon so the rest of your day remains open.

What’s included
