The experience
How do you fit camel riding, quad biking, sandboarding and dune driving into one day without feeling rushed? This eight-hour desert activity stacks them back-to-back, each one a different way to move through the dunes. You start with a camel ride following traditional Bedouin routes, then shift to a quad bike for a faster run across the golden slopes. The sandboarding comes next. It works like snowboarding but on soft sand, and you get around an hour to try it. After that comes dune driving, where the guide takes the 4x4 through the landscape at a controlled pace so you can feel the terrain without the chaos of self-driving.
Between activities, you stop at a traditional Bedouin house to see how people actually lived in the desert. You'll have Omani coffee and dates there, a real pause in the day. Lunch happens later, and you get time to sit and recover before the scenic drive back to Muscat. The guide speaks English throughout and handles all the logistics: pickup from your hotel, the 4x4 transport between sites, and water during the heat. If you want an extra thrill, dune bashing is available as an optional add-on at the camp.
The activities themselves carry fees beyond the tour price: camel riding, sandboarding and quad biking each cost extra per person. That structure lets you decide which ones matter to you, though most people do all three since they're already in the desert. The whole day is built around movement and hands-on doing, not watching from a vehicle.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (2 to 9 years).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the difference between the shared tour and the private experience?
The shared tour runs with other travelers. The private experience is just your group. Both include the same activities, guide, pickup and 4x4 transport. The choice is whether you want the company or not.
Do I need experience to sandboard or ride a quad bike?
No. Sandboarding works like snowboarding but softer and more forgiving, and the guide will show you how to start. Quad biking is straightforward if you can ride a bike or have basic balance. The camel ride is gentle and short, around ten minutes.
What happens if I don't want to do all the activities?
Each activity (camel ride, sandboarding and quad biking) is charged separately, so you only pay for what you do. The dune driving and Bedouin house visit are part of the day either way.
How hot does it get, and what should I bring?
Desert heat is intense, especially midday. The guide provides water throughout the day. Wear sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and loose clothing that covers your arms and legs. Closed shoes work better than sandals for the activities.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra?
Pickup from your Muscat hotel, the 4x4 transport, the guide, Omani coffee and dates, water, and time at the Bedouin house are included. Camel riding, sandboarding, quad biking and lunch are separate fees. Dune bashing at the camp is optional.
