The experience
You're picked up from your Muscat hotel, airport, or the Sultan Qaboos Port and driven into the desert. The first stop is Wadi Bani Khalid, where natural pools sit between mountain cracks fed by underground springs. You swim in the clear water, eat a light meal, and have time to absorb the landscape before heading onward. The drive takes you through Bidiyah, where you'll have a traditional lunch, then to the Wahiba Sands desert camp where you spend the night in a Bedouin tent.
The second morning opens with a choice. You can watch the sunrise from the camp, and if you want more activity, camel riding and four-wheel drive bikes are available to rent. After the camp activities, you visit Ibra, a historic village known for its mud-brick houses in the Al-Manzafa neighborhood and its traditional market. From there, the drive back to Muscat takes the afternoon, and you're dropped at your hotel, airport, or port.
A private guide who speaks English travels with you the entire two days, and the vehicle is air-conditioned. Meals include lunch and dinner on day one and breakfast on day two, plus snacks and bottled water throughout. The overnight accommodation is a standard double room in the desert camp for two people.
