The Experience

You don't expect a river near Bergen to feel this remote. The Raundal valley opens up maybe twenty minutes from town, and suddenly the water is loud and the walls are steep and you're standing in neoprene footwear on a gravel bank while your guide checks the raft one more time. The Play Section is what locals call this stretch — Grade III rapids stacked close enough that you're paddling almost the whole way down, but not so technical that a first-timer with decent fitness can't handle it. The guide runs through safety on land first, shows you how to brace and how to lean into the raft when it matters, then you push off and the rhythm takes over.

What makes this different from other whitewater rafting trips is that you're not just surviving the rapids — there are pools between them where the river goes quiet and you can actually see where you are. The Raundal valley walls are steep, the water is cold enough that the wetsuit stops being optional, and the guide knows which eddies let you float and breathe and look around. The certified international guides here aren't just safety-trained; they're river people who've run this section enough times to read the water and know where the current wants to take you. They'll teach you skills you can use on future paddles, which sounds like boilerplate until you're in the raft and realizing you're actually learning something instead of just holding on.

Transport to and from the river is included, so you don't have to figure out how to get there or worry about driving back soaking wet. The whole package — raft, paddle, life jacket, wetsuit, neoprene shoes, splash jacket — arrives with you. Groups stay small enough that the guide can see everyone and the raft doesn't feel crowded. You'll be out for a few hours, paddling as a team, and the river does the rest.

What’s included

Your day includes hotel or meeting point pickup, transport to the Raundal River, a complete safety briefing on land, an inflatable raft, paddle, personal floatation device, wetsuit, neoprene footwear, splash jacket, and a certified professional guide for the duration of the rafting. Transport back to Bergen is included at the end.

Is this one for you?A good fit if you want to paddle real rapids without needing years of experience or a separate gear rental — the guide is certified, the raft and wetsuit come with you, and Grade III means you're working but not in over your head. Plan for a few hours on the water; that's what lets you hit multiple rapids and still have time to float the pools.
