The experience
The Raundal River near Voss is built for families new to rafting. You'll paddle through Grade II whitewater (waves and small drops that move fast but stay manageable), then coast through pools where you can catch your breath and look around. A certified River Rafting Guide leads the whole group, teaching paddling technique before you launch and staying with you throughout. The guide also handles safety briefings on land and on the water, so you know what to expect before the raft hits the current.
The 3-hour booking breaks down as roughly 1.5 hours on the river itself, with the rest covering transport from the base, gear setup, safety instruction and the paddle back. The starting point is less than 15 minutes' drive away, so you're not spending half the day in a van. All equipment comes with the tour: inflatable raft, paddles, life jacket, splash jacket, wetsuit and neoprene shoes. You work as a team to navigate the rapids, but the Grade II difficulty means no prior experience is needed, and kids from age 5 can join.
