Cook an internationally inspired vegetarian meal in a century-old villa kitchen, then sit down to eat it.
A private vegetarian cooking class in Northland with your host Anna at her family home, a restored 140-year-old Kauri villa. You'll learn to cook a gourmet meal from scratch (choosing from breads, seasonal salads, or internationally inspired cuisines including Middle Eastern, Italian, Asian or Mexican), then share the meal you prepared at the family dining table or vine-covered deck. The class runs 2 to 4 hours depending on the cuisine. You choose between lunch or dinner. Gratuities are included.

The experience
Anna's kitchen is the heart of her family home, and she's opened it to teach travelers her own recipes. You'll work hands-on through the entire meal, learning the techniques and tips that go into each dish. The class covers everything from scratch, whether you're making bread, fermenting vegetables, preparing probiotic health drinks, or building a full internationally inspired plate. The cuisine you pick shapes the length of the class and the flavors you'll work with.
After cooking, you move from the kitchen to the table. In summer, that's the vine-covered deck. The rest of the year, the family dining room. You eat the meal you made, alongside Anna and her family. Dessert is homemade: pudding, cake, tart or ice cream. This is not a performance or a demonstration. It's a working kitchen where you learn by doing, then sit down as a guest.
The villa itself is 140 years old, built from Kauri wood, and the family is slowly renovating it. The kitchen retains its original character, which shapes the whole experience: you're cooking in a real home, not a commercial studio. Anna speaks English and enjoys meeting new people. The class is private, so it's just you and your group with her.
