Pick your own wineries and ride at your own speed through the vines

A self-guided e-bike tour of Hawke's Bay wine country where you collect your bike between 10am and 12pm, follow flat winding routes past vineyards, and visit whichever wineries appeal to you (Abbey Cellars, Alpha Domus, Sileni Estate, Trinity Hill and others) before returning by 4pm. The tour typically runs four to six hours depending on how many tastings you stop for. Roadside support is included, and wine tastings and lunch are at your own expense.

The experience

You collect your e-bike from Ash Ridge Wines' vineyard between 10am and 12pm, clip on a helmet, and head out with a winery map. The routes are flat and winding through the heart of the region, so the riding itself is straightforward. The e-bike handles the pedaling effort. You choose which wineries to visit (perhaps Sileni Wines, Alpha Domus, Oak Estate, Trinity Hill, Unison Vineyard or Stonecroft), and how long to linger at each one. Some wineries are closed on weekdays, so the map helps you plan around that.

Wine tastings and lunch are at your own expense, though several wineries have food available if you want to eat overlooking the vines. Roadside support follows you through the day: if you get a flat tyre or run into trouble, help is there. During summer, the support team also collects any wine you buy so you don't have to carry it on the bike. You're free to take a quick lunch break or spend an afternoon at a single winery. The pace is entirely yours. Return your bike to the starting point by 4pm.

Wine tastings and lunch are at your own expense. Several wineries have restaurants or cafes where you can eat overlooking the vineyards.

What happens if I have a mechanical problem with the bike?

Roadside support is included in the tour. If you get a flat tyre or encounter any other difficulty, help is available to assist you.
