Then it's another three and a half hours on the bus to Bruges. That's the part people don't always expect—the driving is real, and it's long. But when you arrive, the medieval streets are narrow enough that cars barely fit, and the canals are exactly what "Venice of the North" means without being hyperbole. The Lake of Love (Minnewater) is where swans actually float past old bridges, and Mary's Bridge gives you the postcard view everyone wants.
